Where Can I Report A Suspicious E-mail or Tracking & Deciphering an E-Mail’s Return-Path?
I need to know Where Can I Report A Suspicious E-mail for businesses? I am not sure weather it is a suspicious e-mail or not since they are providing there credit card to pay up front 3 times the cost of our services which they would be paying 8K which normally cost 2K for what the person is asking. We sent our pricing list to the person requesting our services for each individual package we offer. He is willing to provide a credit card for the amount but he wants the name of the business, name of the manager/owner and company phone number and fax number before he releases the credit card information to us. I am reluctant to provide this information since It could end up being identity theft. He provided in international number to call the sender if I had any questions. I am asking for advice on how to handle or approach this or if I can be reffered to a cyber crime unit where the authoritiies can pursue this or give us business people tips or advise on weather it is a legitimate or fradulent request for services. This is the first time we have reiceived in our business an e-mail like the one I am describing, Please help. Thank you in advance for any information.
Report it to as many sites as you can, that way people are aware of the problem.

On March 13, another incident of stolen information occurred, this time involving over 11,000 college students across America. The students were not informed until at least a month later and are told to go on consumerinfo.com to sign up for one year of free credit report and monitoring, courtesy of the company that lost the important information.
the FTC had sued consumerinfo in the past for being deceptive.

Given that identity theft and cyber credit crime is so lucrative….?
… why do we not hear it publicly associated with organized crime like the Mafia et al ?
Are these high risk ventures they will not touch ?
Or are the media remiss in publicising their involvements ?
Common perception seems that those involved in this arena appear specialists in this field only.
Could it be so ?
Because the cyber-criminals are mostly located in the former eastern European colonies of the old Soviet Union. Places like Ukraine and Romania where the laws are weak and the authorities are easily bribed.
And yes they are loosely organized. It’s amazing the malware and the credit card numbers that are openly sold if one knows the correct IRC chat channels to look at.
It does help if one speaks Russian though.
