Is it wise to include your SSN # in an online job application??

They won’t take the application otherwise. With identity theft and cyber crimes being so common place these days, I’m a little concerned.

I would be careful. Most reputable companies will do a short online application without the SSN, and will also have you attach a copy of your resume. The other details will be worked out if you get in for an interview. I agree, watch for scams!

It is not different, as you dropping it off at the job place. When you fill out application on-line, just make sure there is a picture of a LOCK on the bottom of the page…It means that the web page that you are on is secure and encrypted.

I don’t think it is wise. Scammers can copy even the most legit sites and there was some news about thieves getting into job sites as well looking for addresses, names, SSN etc. That’s what they need to apply for a credit card or mortgage under your name. Be careful out there.
