Y does it seem like crimes that r committed over the internet r worse than the crimes commmitted in person?

Some of the stories I see or hear that have 2 do w/ the internet r so much more heinous than crimes committed in person? I have heard horror stories or have seen them that have involved internet crimes concerning rape or murder, only when it comes 2 the internet, those crimes r much more horrific when they’re committed. Y is that?

I assume you mean when someone meets someone over the internet, and then they meet in person, these people sometimes fall victim to being raped or murdered…(via the person they met). I think it seems more horrific because the people that are raped or murdered are usually naive, trusting, young, desperate, and seem more "Victim" then another victim might have been. It makes the news seem more horrible when we hear it was a 18 year old woman who’d fallen victim to a 47 year old man masquerading as a 22 year older, and her loneliness made her an easy target. We all know someone who is lonely, or looking for love. Perhaps our mother, our sister, perhaps even ourselves. It’s easy to see ourselves in that picture, and easy to live in denial that the man or woman WE converse with is on the level. NOBODY is to be trusted who lives behind a screen, the sooner we remember that, the sooner we can stop internet crime.

They arent,we trust the internet as a safe source of entertainment and social gathering, it is our sense of trust in society via the internet that gives us a sort of Protected feeling. because we are not meeting them in person, we can interact with them, and it wont effect us. When something happens as a result of this trusted source of entertainment and social whatnot, our sense of saftey over the internet is violated. maybe i didnt understand the question, but that would be my answer as to why a crime over the internet might seem worse then it actouly is. but any crime, commited anywhere, anyway, is still a crime. and the offense, and punishment, is no different then if it where done in person. its just a source some criminals use to find their targets, the best way to prevent this, is to follow the basic rules of internet saftey, such as not divulging personal information.

The majority of crimes over the internet are preventable, but happen because of the victims willingness to hand out Personal information, wether it be Bank information or your name, over the internet.
