New ID Theft Law Protects SC Consumers – What you need to know!


Identity theft is this nations fastest growing crime. The recently passed Financial Identity Fraud and Identity Theft Protection Act (FIFITPA) aims to fight this problem. The Act provides several protections for consumers in the areas of security freezes, credit reports, records disposal, security breaches and more. Canada post has no protection against fraud and identity theft. Part 2

Every hour one person becomes a victim of identity theft or fraud in Canada.
It is so easy to commit fraud with stolen mail, Canada post is sloppy with protection against mail theft and they really don’t care. It is one of the fastest growing crimes in Canada, identity theft occurs when someone steals your name and other personal information with the intention of uming your identity to gain access to your finances, make purchases and incur debts in your name, or commit other crimes. They are not engaged in the fight against identity theft, and are not cooperating with US authority to catch these thieves.

Crook’s and international criminals find this the easiest country to for living large at the expense of others. Once this information is stolen, it can be used to finance spending sprees and open new bank accounts, or to redirect your mail and apply for loans, credit cards and social benefits and the list goes on. In the United States there have been measures taken to fight this problem, including laws and Post office special crimes investigation officers.

Punishment for this crime against fraud and identity theft committed through stolen mail in canada is a slap on the back of the hand!
